A Brief Profile

Established in July 2015 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh, Baba Kanshi Ram Govt. Degree College, Dadasiba was founded to provide quality higher education to rural youth from villages around Tehsil Dadasiba, of district Kangra . The college is named after Baba Kanshi Ram — Himachal Pradesh's celebrated poet, patriot, and social reformer — and upholds his ideals of empowerment through knowledge, service, and social justice. Baba Kanshi Ram Government Degree College, Dada Siba, was established in July 2015 under Notification No. EDN-A-Kha (1)1/2015 issued by the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The institution is named after the renowned freedom fighter and poet Baba Kanshi Ram, popularly known as the "Pahari Gandhi."The college is situated amidst the rural surroundings of Pong Dam and the Beas River Wetland in the Shivalik foothills of Kangra district. Dada Siba is also known for the historic Radha Krishna Temple, built by Raja Ram Singh in 1830. The panoramic view of the Dhauladhar ranges, along with the crystal-clear waters of the Beas River, enhances the natural beauty of the region. During winter, the arrival of migratory birds creates a serene atmosphere and adds to the area's charm.

The region is well connected through Major District Road No. 46, which links Dada Siba with important towns and pilgrimage centres such as Chintpurni, Una, Jwala Ji, Kangra, Dharamshala, Talwara, Hoshiarpur, and Chandigarh. Regular transportation facilities are available to all these destinations.

Baba Kanshi Ram (1882–1943) was a prominent freedom fighter, poet, and social reformer from Gurnwar village in Dada Siba. Inspired by leading nationalists and deeply moved by the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, he devoted his life to India's freedom struggle. He was imprisoned several times for his nationalist activities and used his poetry to spread the message of patriotism and social awakening. Popularly known as "Bulbul-e-Pahar," he earned widespread recognition for his literary contributions and remains an enduring symbol of courage, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation. BKR Government College, Dada Siba, is a co-educational institution offering undergraduate programmes in Arts and Commerce. Serving students from the rural and remote areas of the Jaswan Pragpur constituency, the institution provides quality higher education and opportunities for holistic development.To promote academic excellence and personality development, the college regularly organizes quizzes, presentations, documentary screenings, subject society activities, sports events, cultural programmes, and other co-curricular activities. Students actively participate in these programmes with great enthusiasm.The college administration, with the support of the State Government, the PTA, the CSCA, and the local community, is committed to nurturing responsible, skilled, and confident citizens. The NSS and R&R units further contribute to the overall development and exposure of students by encouraging social service, leadership, and community engagement.
